Although hurricane season continues into October, it’s unlikely you’ll be caught in its path. Still, plan ahead and consider purchasing travel insurance as protection in case any weather-related issues arise. Average daytime temperatures during fall range between 60o and 71o, and water temperatures remain warm enough for swimming.
Corolla offers an ideal place to escape the winter chill! The quintessential Outer Banks vibe remains, yet seems even more relaxed and welcoming compared to summer; plus you may even get lucky enough to have nearly the whole beach to yourself! Winter also presents the unique opportunity of witnessing large flocks of snow geese and tundra swans as they migrate through our region; seeing these majestic birds is truly captivating; you can see them at places like Pea Island, Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge or Lake Mattamuskeet for truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Winter in the Outer Banks offers mild temperatures and pleasant conditions.
